MISS AMERICA!!!
Hi there all! We have returned from Las Vegas! It was such a fun trip. We met so many awesome people. Jill did amazing!!! Of course we all hoped for a Miss America but that's not meant to be which is fine. We need her as our Miss Utah anyway.
Here's an update on all of the awesome things that happened.
We got to Vegas on Monday. The first preliminary night was Tuesday. My mom (as many of you know) is the Executive Director of Miss Utah so she was in meetings a lot of the time. The Miss America board was offering seats on the risers on the stage. My mom requested 4 seats so each preliminary night me, Wendy, Cyd and Nicole got to sit up on stage (my mom had pretty good seats and wanted to sit in the audience.) It was so cool!!!! We also went the the trade show and to a Miss America breakfast where we could meet the former Miss Americas and Lauren Nelson. They are all so gracious and nice. Lauren is very sweet. We had backstage visitors passes and we got to go back and meet all of the contestants and talk with Jill. Can I just tell you what a sweetheart she is! I love her to death. On Tuesday she was very upset with herself because she stumbled a little on her on-stage question but after many people (not from Utah) came to tell her that she was their favorite, she felt better. On Wednesday she was a whole new person. She stumbled in her swimwear too but looked amazing. She also did everning gown that night and probably won it. On Thursday she did her talent. It didn't go as well as hoped but she did great.
On Thursday night, my sister Amy, myself, and her girls, got our car from valet. Then a couple of minutes later, our other sister calls us and says the they just met Clinton Kelly from "What Not To Wear." Can you believe it? I was so mad. I love that guy!
On Saturday night, we arrived a little late to the pageant. It was like cattle trying to get into the auditorium. We finally got in just in time to hear the girls announcing themselves. We were bummed when she didn't make top 15 but we knew she was the 16th contestant. I just loved her reaction! How great were her push-ups too???? I just love her. Of course we were sad to see her eliminated but what a way to go.
After the pageant, we went backstage and we had a build a bear for her with army fatigues, a crown, and a blonde wig. She also had a dogtag on with "team GI Jill" on it. She loved it. While we were walking to the backstage area, we ran into the "advisors" from the reality show. We told them that we were from Utah. They said that they loved her and that she was their favorite. I don't know why they didn't pick her to win the reality show though. Oh well. Anyway, then Nicole told them why she dresses the way she does. She actually explained the garments to the Asian advisor. She said that she wishes that Jill would have told them and then they would have been more understanding. I don't think it's necessary to explain why you are modest but whatever. Anyway, it was way cool to meet them and they told us to tell Jill that they loved her! We also met Kayne from "Project Runway" and the old Miss Wyoming that is on the series "Crowned." It was great.
I had such a great time. I also told Jill that I am glad she didn't win because now we can hang out. She said that sounds awesome. Good job Jill!!! She's our Miss America!

CSI Miami, Biggest Loser, American Idol, The Apprentice, The Office, You are what you eat and How clean is your house (BBC), Just cook this, Sell this house, Flip this house, The first 48, Deadliest Catch, So you think you can dance, The Soup, and of course my favorite show of all time, Friends. I stay up til wee hours of the night to watch them because there's not enough time during the day. All I have to say is DVR is the best invention of all time!!!!! (central vac isn't so bad either, oh and toilets.) I also love to watch Jazz games. I had to edit this because I forgot some. I also love SNL and of course my other all time favorite, Lost. I just forgot about it because it hasn't been on the air for almost a year!!! It's coming back Jan 31st. Lost party anyone?
3. What is your middle name? I didn't have one. I guess now it's Revill
4. What characteristic do you despise? Arrogance
5. Favorite item of clothing? Undershirts (shade tanks)
6. If you could go anywhere in the world for vacation, where would it be? That's tough but I think I would love to see South Africa. They have a place there called seal island where you can see the most great white sharks anywhere. I think that would be cool (I learned about it during shark week. I love shark week.)
7. What color is your bathroom? Tan. Boring.
8. What did you want to be when you were little? A teacher or a dental assistant. weird?
9. How are you today? Great. I have lots to do but that keeps me sane.
10. What is your favorite candy? I love Fun Dips and Sixlets. I do love myself a Kit Kat too.
11. What is your favorite flower? Peonies. I have the most beautiful Peonies and Hybiscus in my yard in spring.
12. What is your favorite thing to do? On an everyday basis, I love to relax after I have finished everything I needed to do that day. My absolute favorite thing......roller coasters. Someday my sister Cyd and I are going to tour the country and ride the best roller coasters.
13. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Pink of course

19. What are the top three qualities you value in a friend? Humor, Fun, Money. Just Kidding. I just like to have a good time without having to worry if I said something wrong. I apologize in advance for saying this because it seems like I always offend someone but I don't like hanging out with people who are too sensitive. I just don't take myself seriously and I never get offended so I forget that some people do. Am I a bad person?
20. Who is your favorite friend from high school? I had so many great friends in highschool. Of course Natalie was my bestest friend forever. Bridgette was my other best friend and still is. Poor Little Baby
Well, we've had an interesting week. Desi has been sick with a cold for a little while. It started a little after Christmas and went through New Year's. I finally called the doctor after being sick and tired of Desi being sick and tired. They got us in on Wednesday. The doctor took one look at her and knew something was wrong. He sent me to the hospital to have her tested for RSV. After waiting 5 hours for the test results, they came back negative. So the doctor diagnosed her with bacterial pneumonia. PNEUMONIA????? WHAT??? My poor little baby. They prescribed her an antibiotic and told me to get her on it ASAP. They also told me to watch her very closely for breathing difficulties and fever. Later that night, we gave her the medicine and suddenly her lips went a little blue. I put her in the tub to see if it was because she was cold or if it was because she couldn't breathe. That's when the fever started. At about 7:00, she had a fever of 103.5. So we thought we would see if it would go away with some Motrin. All night she still had a fever so at 4:00 a.m. we took AnnaBelle to my mom's house and headed for the E.R. When we arrived, they took her temperature and it was 104.7. They did test X-Rays and determined that it was pneumonia. They gave her an antibiotic shot and fever reducer. When we left the hospital 5 hours later, her fever was at 102.3. Our instructions were to continue with her meds and give her Tylenol if the fever comes back and if the fever doesn't respond to Tylenol, to bring her back in. They also have been testing her oxygen levels all week at the doctors. WOW! Crazy huh? One minute I thought she just had a bad cold.....and then whatdaya know???!!!!!
She is doing much better now but we are to keep her indoors and away from people since her immune system is down right now. She is so sweet though and has never stopped smiling (well.....except for when she was in the X-Ray device. She did not like that. She looked at me like "Why aren't you doing anything? Why are you allowing this to happen?") We'll keep you posted on her progress.
